The DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority (DCHBX) won the Best Practices award for the 2016 Amazon Web Services “City on a Cloud” Innovation Challenge. This challenge is a global competition of local/regional government and technology partners using AWS to deploy innovative solutions to move government forward on behalf of their citizens. Networking For Future (NFF) together with its partner IdeaCrew, Inc., is honored to be part of DCHBX’s technology team and has supported DCHBX since 2013.
DCHBX is responsible for the online health insurance marketplace in the District of Columbia for small businesses and residents. District residents and businesses can shop and enroll in affordable, quality health, dental, and vision insurance through DC Health Link. DC Health Link also allows residents to get eligibility determinations for public insurance (Medicaid) and federal tax credits to reduce private health insurance premiums.
Together, NFF engineers and IdeaCrew’s DevOps teams architected, implemented and continue to operate a flexible, secure infrastructure that hosts DCHBX mission-critical Enrollment Application in the Amazon Web Services cloud. The infrastructure design enables software deployment with zero downtime, auto-scaling based on traffic load, real-time performance, and error monitoring/recovery and automated deployment.
“Our success is in large part due to the leadership of our Chief Information Officer, Suzanne Peck, and the talented IT team she assembled – part of the talent pool in the District’s hi-tech corridor,” said Mila Kofman, JD. Executive Director at DCHBX.
